We have two low tides and two high tides each day. Between the first high tide and the first low tide there is a six hour difference between the two, and then a twelve hour difference between a high tide to a high tide and low tide to the other low tide. This is the case because the moon orbits slowly around earth, but the earth completes its turn in 24 hours, therefore there are four cycles were the moon and earth line up to make high and low tides in panama city. The difference in force is felt by the opposite sides by the moon and earths gravitational pull, for example, if there is a point closer to the moon point A, and then on the opposite side of the world another point B. Point A will have a shorter distance therefore a greater force and point B will have a larger distance creating a smaller force. This is important to creating tides because point A will pull towards the moon, while point B will pull in the opposite direction because the net force between point B and the middle is negative, making it pull in the opposite direction. A spring tide is when the moon is full or new moon, and spring tides are when the tides are at their highest, however, neap tides are when the moon phase is a half moon, therefore the tides are not as intense as they are during the spring tides.

In Panama City right now the tide is in coming in right now and will be hide tide at 1 in the morning, and it is a neap tide, so the tides will not be that intense. I know this because it is a half moon.

  1. I like your picture because it shows the moon as it would appear in the sky if you looked up. It sort of connects it to the real moon which is surprisingly helpful. Your description is also good because it outlines the concepts logically. Also the explanation about the difference in points A and B is helpful.
